The European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) is a membership-based, not-for-profit association open to all archaeologists and other related or interested individuals or bodies. The EAA is a democratic association that dedicates its members’ effort entirely to the understanding, management and valuing of the Cultural Heritage of Europe and beyond through Annual Meetings, a quarterly indexed peer-reviewed scientific journal (European Journal of Archaeology), Themes in Contemporary Archaeology monographs, and a newsletter (The European Archaeologist). It promotes free exchange of information, supports early stage researchers and works in capacity building through knowledge exchange. The EAA sets the professional and ethical standards of archaeological work through its Statutes, Code of Practice, Principles of Conduct for Contract Archaeology, and Code of Practice for Fieldwork Training; it has participatory status with the Council of Europe. The EAA awards the European Archaeological Heritage Prize and Student Award annually. The Oscar Montelius Foundation aims to promote the interests of EAA and its members.
