Devoted to valorizing European cultural heritage, the European Michael Culture Association (MC) is a not-for-profit organisation created in 2007. It gathers members and experts from over 150 private and public cultural institutions – mainly museums , libraries, archives, research centers, universities and ministries of culture from 22 EU countries and beyond. It aims to promote and valorize European cultural heritage through digitization and dissemination to a European and worldwide audience and to enhance the network of European professionals working on cultural and digital cultural heritage (DCH). Its activities comprise publications, conferences and events; research and training; networking and participation in European and international projects.
Michael Culture Association also seeks to develope the use of DCH in the areas of culture and heritage, education, research, societal challenges and tourism. MCA is a member or partner of several European networks, including Culture Action Europe, European Alliance for Culture & the Arts and has a strong partnership with European institutions and networks such as NEMO and Europeana Foundation, Dariah and others. MCA is a major operator at European level and has been involved in many European projects – including PCRD, Culture, H2020 and CEF-: Minerva, Minerva+, Michael, Athena, AthenaPlus, DCH-RP, Indicate, DC Net, Net Heritage, Linked Heritage. MCA is the Expert-Hub for museums in CEF-Europeana DSI1-DSI3. MCA was member of the Stakeholders’ Committee preparing for the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage.
