Trans Europe Halles (TEH)

Trans Europe Halles is the European network of cultural centres initiated by citizens and artists. It has been at the forefront of re-purposing Europe’s industrial buildings for arts, culture and activism since 1983. Our mission is to strengthen the sustainable development of non-governmental cultural centres and encourage new initiatives by connecting, supporting and promoting them. Our vision is to connect all players who are engaged in transforming spaces into cultural centres to the benefit of their communities. TEH members are key drivers of democratic development, active citizenship and participation in the arts. They also bring together artists, cultural and creative industries, social and educational organisations in open and creative spaces that spur innovation and development. With an entrepreneurial mindset they explore new business- and governance models and develop partnership with both the private and public sector.
